Greetings friends,I am Gothalo Bolkhe. Since childhood, I grew up watching yaks, sheep, and Chyangra grazing in the Himalayan pastures, and even today the dream of becoming a Gothalo has never left me. Even while living a busy city life, my heart always remains in the hills and Himalayas. To turn that dream into reality, I have started Gothalo Abhiyan and Atmanirbhar Nepal Maha Abhiyan.
The core message of this campaign is: “Nepal develops when it is made in Nepal. Eat local, wear local, and live local.”
My Journey: From Goth to Industry
I am the General Secretary of Wool Development Association. I also serve as the Founder Member of Nepal Fiber Processing Unit, General Member of Nepal Pashmina Industries Association (Chyangra Pashmina), and Founder Managing Director of Castello Cashmere Industries Pvt Ltd.
At the international level as well, I am actively involved. I am the Co-Founder of Lomanthag Cashmere (Australia 🇦🇺), Wooliie (USA, Germany), and MERE (USA, Germany). In addition, I am also the founder of brands such as Dolpa Yak, Bhedako Una, Karnali Wild Hemp, and Khobasi Resham, all connected with Nepal’s local resources.
Behind all these positions and achievements, there is only one truth the dream of becoming a Gothalo. I have never moved away from Gothalo life, instead, I have been working to bring respect to Gothalos and take their products to the global market.
Objectives of Gothalo Abhiyan
This campaign is an effort to connect Gothalos, farmers, young entrepreneurs, and consumers of Nepal on one platform. Every year, we import wool, pashmina, silk, and other fiber-based products worth billions of rupees from abroad. However, Nepal has immense potential in Chyangra, sheep, yak, wild hemp, and Khobasi silk.
Gothalo Abhiyan aims to process these local resources, build Nepali brands, create employment opportunities, and develop a self-reliant economy. This campaign says: “Let Nepalis use Nepali products and increase the value of our own soil.”
Atmanirbhar Nepal Maha Abhiyan and Long-Term Vision
Atmanirbhar Nepal Maha Abhiyan dreams of bringing major transformation through small decisions. Our vision is that the tea we drink in the morning should come from Nepali milk, the sweaters we wear should be made from Nepali wool, the pashmina we use should be from Nepali Chyangra, and the bedsheets we sleep on should be made from Nepali hemp.
We have prepared Vision 2090 and Vision 2100.
Vision 2090 aims to make Nepal fully self-reliant in wool, pashmina, hemp, and silk. Gothalos will be connected with modern processing technologies, youths will become entrepreneurs, and Nepali products will find markets within the country itself.
Vision 2100 imagines Nepal becoming one of the world’s finest natural fiber-producing countries. The ‘Made in Nepal’ brand will win international markets, and the living standards of our Gothalos will rise significantly.
This dream is not just imagination, it is a reality based on our soil, labor, and resources.
You Too Can Join This Campaign
Gothalo Abhiyan is not the campaign of a single person, it is our shared campaign.
- Become a farmer or Gothalo and connect your products.
- Become an entrepreneur and use Nepali raw materials.
- As a consumer, choose Nepali products.
Small efforts bring great change. Every time you buy a Nepali product, you support a Gothalo and encourage a young entrepreneur.
A Final Call
I am Gothalo Bolkhe, and my dream of becoming a Gothalo is still alive. By expanding that dream further, I invite you to join this journey of building an Atmanirbhar Nepal.
Eat local, wear local, and live local. Nepal develops when it is made in Nepal.
Jai Gothalo Abhiyan! Jai Atmanirbhar Nepal Maha Abhiyan!
