English Meaning
- Salutations to Shiva, who wears the king of serpents as a garland, has three eyes, is adorned with sacred ash, is the Great Lord, eternal and pure, and is clothed in the directions.
- Salutations to Shiva, whose body is adorned with the waters of the Mandākinī and sandalwood, who is Lord of Nandī and the Pramathas, and who is worshipped with Mandāra and many other flowers.
- Salutations to Shiva, who is like the sun to the lotus-like faces of Goddess Gaurī, who destroyed Dakṣa’s sacrifice, who is the blue-throated Lord, and whose banner bears the bull.
- Salutations to Shiva, whose crown is worshipped by sages such as Vasiṣṭha, Agastya (Kumbhodbhava), and Gautama, and whose eyes are the Moon, Sun, and cosmic fire.
- Salutations to Shiva, who is the embodiment of sacrifice, who bears matted locks, holds the Pināka bow, is eternal, divine, and clothed in the directions.
- Whoever recites this sacred five-syllabled hymn (Namaḥ Śivāya) in the presence of Lord Shiva attains Shiva’s abode and rejoices in the presence of Shiva. 🙏
